Shape and size of breast implants. The implants are selected considering woman’s expectations and desires as well as surgical possibilities.
Round-shaped implants are an ideal choice for women with firm, good- and round-shaped natural breasts wishing a simple breast enlargement.
Teardrop (anatomical) implants are an ideal chose for women who have the breasts of the similar shape. In addition, these implants are a good option for patients wishing less fullness in the upper part of the breast.
During the consultation, a 3D simulation technique can be utilized to simulate possible surgical results of breast augmentation, and this can help a woman better imagine the potential size and shape of the breast that may be achieved.
How Is the Surgery Performed?
The surgery is performed under general anesthesia, and time in surgery is about 2 hours.
The placement of the incision is selected during the consultation.
Most commonly, the implants are placed by employing a so-called dual-plane technique: the upper part of the implant is covered by the muscle, while the lower part of the implant remains behind the glandular tissue. This technique provides a slight breast lift from the chest wall, and the breasts look more natural.
What Should Be Known After Surgery?
The swelling in the breasts remains for 2–3 weeks;
Bandages over the surgical sites should be changed every 2–3 days;
The stitches are removed on the 8th–12th day after the surgery;
During the first weeks after the surgery, the patient is not allowed raising her arms above her head, as it can cause repositioning of the implants from their location;
A special surgical bra should be worn for 6 weeks after surgery (22–23 hours per day);
Strenuous physical activities and exercising are strongly discouraged for 2–3 months after the surgery;
The patient can return to work within a few days if her occupation does not require strenuous movements and arm raising.
