MINIMAL GEAR FOR BACKPACING IN WINTER
This list is not a sufficient list. It is only an indication of the minimum acceptable gear for the Wayfarer Backpacks. It is not a minimum list for competition purposes.
DESCRIPTION
1. Sturdy Rucksack (size 15/60 approx.) with adequate waist belt
2. Winter Sleeping Bag (-10o or -15o C) – use liner if necessary
3. Extra clothing / Sleeping clothing (as required)
4. Compression Sack(s)
5. Waterproof Liner(s) for Items 1 to 4.
6. 1 or 2-Person Mountain Tent (or person should confirm s/he is sharing a tent)
7. Sleeping Thermarest
8. Flexible Water Carrier
9. Lightweight Cooking Stove + fuel (N.B. Stable base – Trangia or similar)
10. Working Lighter + spare W/P matches
11. Evening meal (pre-cooked or dry) + Breakfast (Porridge / Alpen etc)
12. Milk / Dried Milk as preferred
13. Mug / Knife, fork, spoon etc
14. Personal Washing / Toiletries etc. items
15. Platypus or similar drinking system
16. Good Head-torch / Spare head-torch + Spare Batteries
17. Sturdy hiking boots
18. Pull-ups
19. Winter Rain Jacket
20. Usual Winter hiking gear including GPS (if owned), Map and Compass etc
21. Mobile Phone (Smart phones should have lightweight battery charging system)
N.B. Two-person tent is usually shared with tent-partner |
