Over the years the art of hypnosis has undergone many transformations from Mesmer to Milton H. Erickson and now into NLP it’s maintained its almost magical appeal to the public and there is something magical about it, but the magic is in its ability to help people.
As a professional hypnotherapist I sometimes find that clients are almost disappointed when there’s no magic involved in the process, the perception of trance is not always what the reality is for some people.
In state hypnosis I command the committee of people performing on state to play out a role and in clinical hypnotherapy through suggestions, visualisations and metaphors I guide you to come to your own realisations. If you want a person to really take ownership of their transformation they have to join up the dots themselves and I just act as a guide. While commanding someone to change may work for some people, changing the emotional associations and helping a person to seeing things from a different point of view allows for real lasting change.
There are many layers to hypnosis and for each person it’s a different experience with its own rewards and challenges.
Hypnosis can be used as a therapeutic tool with great effect and really help people make lasting changes in their lives. I’m always honour to apart of someone process and it is really exciting to watch people start to change as if all of a sudden there’s a spark in there eyes.
